A portrait of the 1916 U.S. national championship lacrosse team of Lehigh University, taken in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The team was coached by John Grimes (Patrick’s great-grandfather), featured in the bottom row on the far left. John was a great lacrosse player in Ontario his youth. After his own playing days ended, he travelled down to Pennsylvania for several months each year during most of the 1910s to coach the Lehigh team, which he led to national university championships in 1914, 1916, and 1917. John died of Spanish influenza in October 1918 at the age of 46.
