Eliza Duffy, b. 1791 (Sligo) — d. 1872 (Bolton, Ontario) This Daguerreotype image dates from the late 1850s or early 1860s. As Eliza was illiterate, the book is most likely a prop. Eliza died bedridden, having not left the house for the previous 6 or 7 years due to severe arthritis. She was buried on the farm, but her body was later disinterred and moved to a local cemetery, along with four others, around 1919.
