Dad (left) aged around 4, with Jack. The brothers were inseparable growing up, spending hours fly fishing on the St. Mary’s River, a torrent of a mountain stream. Once, little Jack tossed a boulder into the river from a bridge and the stone carried him with it. Dad dove into the white water, and managed to save Jack from drowning. Jack was always the kid who got into trouble, Dad the older brother who came to the rescue, c. 1921.
